bit-phalanx

Bit-Phalanx is a fair-trade and non profit Artist & Events Management for new Electronic-based recording & performing artists based around the London and the UK.

Since our conception in 2006, we've had regular events in the Midlands and London, as well as gigs at well established events in Reading, Bristol, Brighton and even Malta and Lithuania; as well as having supported such legends as Plaid, Luke Vibert, A Guy Called Gerald, Si Begg, Ceephax Acid Crew, Frog Pocket, The Doubtful Guest, Fischerspooner and Funkstörung. Following several compilation appearances, self funded releases and collaborations, Bit-Phalanx is evolving and moving into a new era with a new home online and a new download service as it tests the waters as a net-label, giving its artists and others yet more creative output opportunities and hopefully adding another string to its bow.

Bit-Phalanx introduces newest recruit Jash with a new free EP release!

Today marks a very special occasion for Bit-Phalanx as we're celebrating the arrival of our latest official signee to our ever expanding roster. Following his wonderful twisted guest noodlings with our HK119 remix EPs, Bristol based scene veteran Jash finally comes on board as one of our official troops. With releases on A Future Without Records and Add N to X's White Label Music under his belt, his debut solo EP for Bit-Phalanx, 'First White Light', is a free 5 track, chilled, otherworldly affair of truly classic sounding crunchy electronica, with a pinch of familiar synth-laden tension and sparkle.

Inspired by the infamous UK "Blizzards" of '09 & '10, 'First White Light' marks Jash's sparkling debut for Bit-Phalanx, and we're proud to welcome his wonderfully sun-kissed melodic synths & grooves under our umbrella. Head over to the releases section now to download 'First White Light' for FREE!

Brand new Jilk EP kicks off a busy summer of releases for Bit-Phalanx!

Following a rather quieter than usual start to the summer, Bit-Phalanx gears up for a busy July with the first of THREE download EP releases... all of which are FREE!

First up is Bit-Phalanx veteran, Jilk.

The first ever signee to Bit-Phalanx back in 2006, Jilk has since gone on to play live and release with some of the best names in the scene. Following contributing tracks to various releases for Airvent Media and The Centrifuge, Jilk released two EPs of his own on the Weft and Ideation netlabels. So, his debut solo release for Bit-Phalanx is more than overdue.

Today, Jilk releases 'Fractured Fulfillment'... a FREE 6 track concept EP, paying homage to the various states of sleep and consciousness, creating something of a soundtrack of the journey from falling asleep, to dreaming, to waking up. As well as this, Bit-Phalanx violinist Tulin-Fée provides strings and even guest vocals throughout this deeply atmospheric, otherworldly and provoking collection. Head over to the releases section NOW to download this beautiful collection.

Hot on the heels of Jilk, next week we have the 2nd of our summer slog of releases as well. This time from a brand new signee to Bit-Phalanx. So, check back next week for more on that, plus details on further releases to come very soon indeed.

Brand new Mr O EP, 'A Handful of O', paves the way for a busy few months

So, after a fairly quiet February & March on the release front, Bit-Phalanx gears up for a massive slog of FREE releases over the coming months with an exquisite new EP from Bit-Phalanx's very own other-worldly, knifes-edge IDM professor, Mr O.

Spanning from 2005 - 2008, 'A Handful of O' is a cherry picked collection from Mr O's buried archives of his more delicate, crunchier (in a 'lovely walk through snow' kinda' way) and more ambient side, which may be something of a welcome surprise to those who know him for his more wild, unpredictable tendencies. 'A Handful of O' is available to download for FREE now from our releases section, so head forth accordingly, if not sooner!

As well as Mr O, in the coming months we have massive wave of releases heading your way very soon. EPs from Jilk, Hot Roddy and Bit-P's newest recruit Jash, will be arriving throughout April and early May. Not to mention the full-scale digital release of our HK119 vs. Bit-Phalanx - 'Fast And Cheap Mixes' in the next few weeks, as well as one last free bonus EP from HK119 and her Bit-Phalanx friends, who take the track 'Space Pt.1' even further out of the galaxy.

Further exciting developments will be happening to this very website too, as a 'Media' section with a whole barrage of goodies, and our very own community forum will be landing shortly too. Watch this space.

Onwards & Upwards,
/Bit-P. x

Jash, K21 and Topher. The EP is available to download from our releases section now. So, what are you waiting for? Enjoy.
